Historical Perspectives on Contemporary Global Issues

This course takes a comparative historical approach to contemporary global issues in various temporal and geographical contexts. Students will focus on issues that emerged in the modern era and may include such topics as terrorism and national security, environmental protection and degradation, resource distribution and trade, health and welfare, and cultural and religious diversity. Students explore the nature of historical change and continuity and will apply historical methods of research and analysis as they investigate the formation and development of particular global issues. The specific case studies and themes in the course will vary by term and instructor. 001523
