Ethics and Leadership
Duke University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This interdisciplinary course draws on philosophy, sociology and public policy to explore ethical leadership in the twenty-first century. From the challenges facing governments to decisions students confront daily, this course seeks to create and evaluate solutions to ethical dilemmas in a global world. Does a government have the right to insist on another government's adherence to human rights standards? Should a museum be forced to return artifacts that were stolen centuries before the museum acquired them? Do corporations have an obligation to invest in their local communities? Do we have an obligation to help the poor and if so why? 001309
