Catalog description

This course, a continuation of CHINESE 231 A and B, is designed to help Chinese heritage students continue improving their formal and informal discourse in speaking and writing. This course aims to further expand and refine students' language skills by studying a variety of texts that are written with advanced intermediate-level vocabulary (including vocabulary denoting abstract concepts), complex grammatical structures, and formal language uses. Students will develop these skills both through curricular activities (such as pair work, writing essays and diaries, and group work) and extracurricular activities (such as Chinese Table and Language Partners). Topics of the course focus on social and cultural issues in contemporary China. 001508
