Issues in Korean Language and Society I

Catalog description

Surveys major historical events in building of modern Korean nation and state and reviews contentions over memorialization and historiography. Compares Korean and English history books, media coverage and cinematic representations for extended discussion, presentations and writing opinion pieces and essays. Prerequisite: KOR 306 or formal education in Korean at Grade school level. Students with equivalent preparation to the prerequisite course should contact instructor for a permission number.
