Catalog description

Builds interpretive and presentational skills for communication on complex topics and develops solid understanding of the current issues of South Korean society in the perspective of social justice. Course reading and materials introduce on-going debates (e.g. military conscription, immigration, and education system) and and analyze how various media texts (e.g. newspaper reports and columns, TV news and programs, alternative media, organization websites, documentaries and feature films) treat the issues. Prerequisite: Korean 207, Korean 305 or equivalent (fluency in speaking, listening, reading narratives and descriptive texts and ability to write multi-sentence texts).
