Catalog description
A four week or term-based, noncredit-bearing enrollment status used when the student is engaged in medical education-related activity that is relevant to the degree (e.g., structured USMLE preparation, medical volunteerism, internship at organization related to training) but is not research. It can be elected for up to twelve one-month terms. An application consisting of a brief description of the activity and advisory dean approval is required. A brief report to the advisory dean on the progress of the activity is required at the end of each four-week term. Full-time student status is maintained during this enrollment, and the student is eligible for the benefits of enrollment, including loan deferment, eligibility for student health services and insurance. Students may not be enrolled in any other course work while enrolled in this status. Students are eligible to apply for federal financial aid. A continuation fee of $500 per term, as well as other applicable MD program fees, is charged for this status.
