Duke University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Since the introduction of ChatGPT, the world has been swept by the generative AI wave. While LLM is still in the early stages of deployment, they have shown great potential to transform our work with significant productivity gains. At the same time, it poses significant risks and dislocations of many jobs. Like many previous technology shocks, generative AI will create winners and losers, depending on how we individually adapt to the change. The key learning objective of this course is to equip students with a basic knowledge of the underlying technology behind LLM, and to explore the opportunities and risks of AI for careers in banking and finance. Prerequisite: MATH/STA 230 or ECON 104D or graduate student standing.
