Catalog description

Introduction to research methods in the social sciences with the chance to learn about the range of research questions, methods used across various fields that study how people think, act, and impact the world. Duke faculty from a wide range of departments will discuss their own research to showcase the range of quantitative and qualitative methods. By the end of the course, students should be able to: describe a good research question and how it affects choices in analytical methods, critically evaluate examples of social science research that use the tools explored in the class, and understand where at Duke they can learn and use the different methodologies covered in the class.
