Catalog description

Duke University Health System Clinical Laboratories are College of American Pathologist (CAP) accredited, CLIA certified, state of the art, multidisciplinary labs. They span three hospitals (Duke University, Duke Regional, and Duke Raleigh Hospitals) and include over 40 different specialized work centers, a large point of care testing program and phlebotomy across all of Duke Health. The selective curriculum will be based on Part 1 of Linné and Ringsrud's Clinical Laboratory Science textbook by Mary Lousie Turgeon. This curriculum also aligns well with the first four sections of the Laboratory Operations section in the ASCP BOC MLS Content Guidelines. This will help create a general foundation and framework that will help 'registry-eligible' team members transition into their respective laboratories and lab jobs. The overall curriculum will be a combination of lectures with supporting laboratory activities and supported by independent learning modules, quizzes, and competency observations. Course Director: Laurelin Younger. Enrollment Min. 1 and Max 6. Credit 4. (Selective) (Pass/Fail)
