The history of economic analysis from the 1930s to the present, emphasizing the development of economics as a theoretical and empirical modeling science. On the macro side, particular attention is given to business cycle analysis from Frisch, Tinbergen, and Keynes through the New Classical and New Keynesian approaches, including the history of interplay of macroeconomics with microeconomics (microfoundations) and with econometric modeling. The micro side focuses on the ascendance of general equilibrium and game-theoretic approaches, the development of applied fields, the expanding boundaries of economics, and the quantitative turn associated with advances in microeconometrics.
