The paradox of racial inequality in societies that articulate principles of equality, democratic freedom, and justice for all. For years anthropologists have explored differences between what people say and what people actually do, the congruence and incongruence between structures of institutions and patterns of culture, and distinctions between myths and often-stark material realities. By the conclusion of the course, students can will better understand how the structures and processes of politics govern the everyday life of racial minorities in capitalist democracies.
