Catalog description
The application of Bayesian statistics to questions in BME broadly with a focus on electrotrocardiography. Topics include a brief history of Bayesian math in biology and medicine, use of likelihood functions and prior distributions, the Bayesian outlook toward medical diagnosis, the work of Cornfield, Pipberger, and Dunn on the classification of electrocardiograms, and a Bayesian framework for the cardiac inverse problem. The approaches used for these topics can be adapted to many other BME situations. Prerequisite: Senior or graduate standing.
