Prerequisite: LEGA 261 or declared Advanced Legal Studies Certificate. Regardless of what path you choose, foundational knowledge in bankruptcy, insurance, and technology is essential. This course will cover 1) various types of bankruptcy filings to how stays may impact a personal injury case and how representations in filings can and will be used in state court proceedings; 2) to insurance basics from occurrence to claims made to tenders, notice, and defense and indemnification; and 3) technology from why and how it matters to privacy issues and potential computer fraud claims to employee loyalty in use of technology.
