Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the social, political and historical forces that have helped shape the practice of the 232 death penalty in America and the international community. Emphasis will be placed on the relationship between race, class and gender and imposition of capital punishment as well as the influence of U.S. Supreme Court rulings on the administration of the death penalty.
