Catalog description
Course teaches college level written and oral communication skills, with an emphasis on critical analysis and thinking, summary, synthesis, and research. Students learn to effectively read and create diverse forms of oral, digital, and visual communication, in addition to rigorously engaging the process of drafting, feedback, and revision in order to produce their own well-designed, carefully researched essays for different audiences and purposes. With an emphasis on present day contextual communications and in-depth mastery of reflective, critical, and academic modes of writing and discourse, this course prepares students for communicative success in their college careers and beyond. Students must complete this course with a 'C' (2.0) or higher to fulfill the CORE requirement in Effective Communication.
