Catalog description

Teaching for Equity is a course that examines principles of educational equity and diversity and their implementation in curriculum content and school practices. Candidates examine their own beliefs, attitudes, biases, and expectations about educational equity, so that they may be better prepared to create equitable classrooms. Candidates also explore the history of schooling in the United States and ways to include cultural traditions in instructional programs. Candidates will learn how to maximize the academic achievement for all students. Candidates participate in fieldwork throughout the semester.
