Teaching Assistantship

Catalog description

In this course, a graduate student assists a Dominican faculty member in teaching a semester-long course in Literature or Creative Writing. Course readings will include current approaches to classroom writing instruction. Students will create a teaching portfolio with a sample syllabus, teaching philosophy, sample assignment, and curriculum vitae. Students will develop class and course management skills through hands-on activities which may include leading a class discussion, giving a short lecture, practice in grading/responding to student work. Students will also be introduced to educational software such as Moodle.
