Honors Research

Catalog description

In this course students will research their chosen honors thesis subject, and design plans to complete their scholarly and/or creative year-long project. Students will learn about multiple research methodologies deployed in the fields of theatre studies and theatrical performance, along with processes for giving and receiving feedback on work-in-progress. In this course students will: research the scholarly and artistic context for their chosen thesis subject, design a step-by-step process for completion of the project, learn established methods for critically engaging feedback on artistic work, revise written work and plans for creative work based on feedback received, and formally reflect on each step of the process. Given the individualized nature of such a course, students will toggle between independent work, one-on-one feedback sessions with the instructor, and group meetings with peers. Satisfies Theatre major requirement. Prerequisites & Notes Permission of the instructor is required.
