Catalog description
The goal of this course is to introduce you to the methods of management of non-profit cultural institutions in the United States in order to further your understanding of how you fit into this environment, either as an administrator or an artist. You will learn practical skills for the successful management of arts organizations that will also translate into tools for your personal success. Topics we will cover include leadership, marketing, fundraising, financial management and board governance. This class will provide a new perspective on the role of arts managers and an understanding of how capable management practices can strengthen the arts in our country. Satisfies a requirement in the Music major and minor. Satisfies the Visual and Performing Arts requirement. Prerequisites & Notes Theatre majors should register for THE 310.
