Catalog description

This course will focus on what lived experiences and ongoing practices can teach us about Hindu traditions. Relying entirely on ethnographic sources, we will cover important religious themes, including conceptualizations of divinity, pilgrimage and space, gender, caste, and ritual, during our time together. Additionally, through the experiential projects in this course, we will fine-tune our own “ethnographic” intuitions for approaching religious phenomena and hopefully become more aware of the multitude of ways religion can manifest in everyday life.
