Psychology of Endings

Catalog description

People experience endings in multiple contexts, including personal relationships, social roles, decisions, conversations, psychotherapy, graduation, and life (others’ and our own). We will read and discuss research from across the field of psychology, some theoretical and some applied. Questions to explore include: What makes a good ending or a poor one? How does anticipating an ending affect behavior and experience prior to the ending? What does an ending teach us about the relationship or experienced that ended? We will also read outside of psychology and connect what other scholars are discussing with the psychology literature. Satisfies Psychology major requirement.
