Death, Dying, and Bereavement

Catalog description

Despite death being a universal experience, it is often taboo to discuss. In this course, we will use a lifespan developmental perspective to highlight how death-related events shapes our lives. We will examine real-world issues (e.g., healthcare, hospice, bereavement support) and explore potential implications for improving the lives of all people. The main goals for this course are threefold: 1) normalize death-related conversations, 2) generate scientific curiosity within death-related topics, and 3) reflect on one’s own assumptions about death, dying, and bereavement.
