Catalog description

This course explores how and why policies dealing with issues such as the economy, health care, and immigration differ across nations. We examine and contrast the influence of political ideas and ideologies, institutions, and organized interests in shaping the process and substance of public policy. In this course, we also investigate why similar policies generate different outcomes, exploring the challenges that developed and developing states face in implementing public policy. Cases analysis and discussions will provide opportunities for students to apply analytical skills and gain a realistic understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and interdisciplinary knowledge required of practitioners. Satisfies the Social-Scientific Thought requirement.
