Catalog description

A general introduction to jazz. The class will explore the roots of jazz, will critically examine jazz improvisation, and will present a history of jazz from its beginnings to the present. Satisfies a requirement in the Africana Studies major (Geographic Region: North America). Satisfies the Visual and Performing Arts requirement. Prerequisites & Notes No music training required. (Normally offered in fall of alternate years.)
