This course covers the history of the Vietnam War in the 1960s and 1970s, its impact on American society, and its influence upon the United States’ role in the world. The course will cover topics including the policies of political leaders such as Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon toward Vietnam, the experience of the soldiers who fought in the war, the struggles at home between the anti-war movement and those who supported the Vietnam War and the impact of the war on how Americans view their engagement with the world. Satisfies History major and minor requirement. Satisfies Historical Thought Ways of Knowing requirement.
