Catalog description

This is an introduction to the history of addiction and psychoactive substances - opium, tobacco, and alcohol - in East Asia from 1600-present. Questions involving the consumption, circulation, perception, and regulation of psychoactive substances will be discussed. Satisfies the cultural diversity requirement. Satisfies requirement in Asian Studies, International Studies, Public Health, and Neuroscience Interdisciplinary Minors.
