An examination of the history of piracy in the Atlantic world, primarily in the 17th and 18th centuries. Special consideration given to the emergence of the sea rovers, the social composition of pirate communities, and the ongoing fascination with swashbucklers and peg-legged captains. Satisfies History major and minor requirement. Satisfies Historical Thought requirement.
