Catalog description

Desire is a passion that has driven men and women to build and destroy empires, and has thus been a topic and subject in French literature since medieval times. This course examines the various forms of desire, and maps the spaces and places in which it is expressed, from France to the confines of the colonial Empire and more recently the Francophone world. Satisfies the Literary Studies, Creative Writing, and Rhetoric requirement. Satisfies a requirement in the Global Literary Theory major and interdisciplinary minor. Prerequisites & Notes Any French course numbered 220 or above. Cross-listed with FRE 226.
