Catalog description

This workshop class offers a deeper exploration of the possibilities of screenwriting and cinematic storytelling. We will explore a wide variety of creative techniques, narrative devices, and dramatic structures in different genres. Most of the work will be based on the writing that you and others in your class accomplish, including a short screenplay for students from the Advanced Filmmaking class to shoot over the course of the semester. We will also adapt a short story into cinematic form and work collaboratively in small cohorts. Acclaimed screenwriters and filmmakers will visit the classroom to share their insights and experiences.fferent techniques, narrative devices, and story structures. Satisfies Film, Media and Digidal Studies major and minor requirement. Satisfies Literary Studies, Creative Writing, and Rethoric Requirement. Prerequisites & Notes “Advanced Screenwriting” is open to students who have taken ENG 204, 205, 207, 307, and/or have obtained permission from the instructor.
