Catalog description

What economic forces shape reallocation of capital across firms, and how do they affect value, incentives, and society? This course studies capital allocation and reallocation at two levels: macro forces shaping productivity and inequality, and the micro choices that drive them-how firms are bought, sold, restructured, and governed. Students develop skills in modeling value, risk, and incentives, while applying an economic and organizational lens to institutions, bargaining, and market design. In a liberal arts context, students build durable critical-thinking skills by shifting perspectives, reasoning from models to evidence, and communicating with precision. Satisfies Economics major and minor requirement. Satisfies Social-Scientific Thought requirement. Prerequisites & Notes ECO 101
