Religion and Economics

Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to explore relationships between religious communities (their commitments, ideas, and practices) and economic life (its institutions, roles, and attitudes). These relationships have been important in many places and times, from ancient cultures to the present day, and raise questions about a good society, justice, and equality. In some contemporary contexts, reflections about these relationships are especially significant for social ethics. Note: ECO 254 meets together with REL 254. Satisfies Economics major and minor requirement. Satisfies Philosophical and Religious Perspectives requirement. Satisfies Justice, Equality, and Community requirement. Prerequisites & Notes ECO 101
