Natural Resources and Sustainability

Catalog description

This course explores the role natural resources play in economic development, examining case studies from developed and developing countries. You will learn economic theories that explain why some countries are successful in using their natural resources effectively. It will examine the impacts of natural resources on national economies, human welfare, environmental pollution, and local communities, and the transition to sustainable development. Satisfies Economics major and minor requirement. Satisfies Environmental Studies major and minor requirement Satisfies Social-Scientific Thought requirement. Prerequisites & Notes ECO 101. This course is open to first-year students who already have credit from ECO 101 and meet the requirement for ECO 101.
