Explores the distinction-theoretically, historically, and in contemporary public discourse- between persuasion and propaganda. Surveys and provides background in the various meanings and applications of the terms persuasion and propaganda in theory and practice. Through both scholarly research and case studies, it helps students become more sophisticated and critical consumers of persuasion and propaganda in the “marketplace of ideas.” Satisfies Communication Studies major and minor requirement Satisfies a Literary Studies, Creative Writing, and Rhetoric requirement
