Catalog description
This course approaches many major concepts in molecular biology from the lens of CRISPR and other genome editing techniques that have been widely used in: Biochemistry and methods development, post natal genetic disease treatment, cancer research and treatment, immune function, molecular evolution, diagnostics and biotechnology, neurobiology, agriculture and pest management, and molecular imaging. This is a discussion based seminar that relies heavily on recent technical primary literature and student oral presentations of current research. Prerequisites & Notes Successful completion of BIO111/113/115 and CHE115 is required; BIO201 or BIO303/CHE230 is highly recommended. Please inquire directly with the instructor if you do not have one of the prereqs. Not open to first-year students.
