As a survey of gender in art, this course’s first half examines how women have been represented in Western art and what that implies about the balance of power between the genders over the centuries. The second half of the course deals with the gradual growth of art made by women, the issues addressed by that art, and its reception in American culture of the past century. Satisfies Visual and Performing Arts requirement. Satisfies the Justice, Equality, and Community requirement
