Catalog description

This course is one of the two survey courses on Asian art. In this course, we will explore the arts of Asia with China, Japan, Korea, and India as main focal points. This survey of Asian art covers the temporal scope from 1000 C.E. to the present. The class follows an approximate chronological order with a weekly theme that addresses art history questions such as transculturality, gender, and modernity. Satisfies Art major and minor requirement in Art History. Counts as an elective in the East Asian Studies major and minor. Counts as an elective in the Chinese Studies minor. Satisfies South Asian Studies minor requirement. Satisfies the Visual and Performing Arts requirement. Satisfies the Cultural Diversity requirement.
