Catalog description

This course will examine performance aesthetics and traditions from various West African Cultures and contexts. Special consideration will be given to how these approaches to music and dance shape in particular inform the diasporic cultural practices of Afro-descended people in the US and Caribbean. Satisfies a requirement in the Anthropology major and minor. Satisfies a requirement in the Africana Studies major (Geographic Region: Africa). Satisfies the Visual and Performing Arts requirement. Satisfies the cultural diversity requirement
