Catalog description

The course will examine U.S. court systems and the legal and ethical issues related to health care. Specific federal and state regulations, compliance rules, and laws as they relate to the health information department, privacy, security, release of information, confidentiality, and the health record will be covered. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules and regulations will be covered in detail and their influence on the healthcare field.
