Catalog description
New technology has allowed more accurate mapping (GPS, GIS), soil identification, and fertility of soils which operators along with soil scientists can use to evaluate soil conservation and production factors. The course covers chemical, biological and physical properties of soils such as their origins, classification and distribution. Soil Science has an influence on agriculture,economics, food production, conservation and an environmental impact as a limited resource. Current and new technology, along with an ever increasing population make it essential that the students comprehend the importance of maximizing production our soils while utilizing sustainable practices. 3 lecture hours, 2 lab hours
