Surveys important writings by representative American authors from the colonial period through the post-Revolutionary War era. Typically includes Bradford, Bradstreet, Winthrop, Crevecoeur, Franklin, Paine, and Irving. Prerequisite: Any 2000-level literature course with a grade of C or better. Co-requisite: English 3010 (English majors); English majors must take English 3010 as their first upper-division English course.
