Academic Reading and Writing

Catalog description

Formerly: ENGL C1000E Enhanced College Writing. Term hours: 90 Lecture. In this course, students receive instruction in academic reading and writing, including writing processes, effective use of language, analytical thinking, and the foundations of academic research. This course includes embedded support. This course in college-level composition is designed to develop the reading, critical thinking, and writing strategies necessary for academic success. The emphasis is on reading and writing expository essays. The course includes research and documentation skills. This course includes a fifth hour of instruction per week to help students develop the reading, writing, and study skills necessary for academic success (CSU/UC, AA GE, Cal-GETC, C-ID: ENGL 100).
