Catalog description

Term hours: 54 lecture. This course surveys Latina/o/x literature from the Indigenous Mesoamericans, to the Spanish colonization period, through the present day. Students will explore and analyze a variety of social and political issues, such as gender relationships, family relationships, cultural traditions, cultural conflicts, culinary traditions, and stereotypes from a Latina/o/x-American perspective. Students will read major literary classics as well as the works of previously less recognized writers of Latina/o/x fiction, poetry, drama, and prose. (CSU/UC, AA GE, CalGETC).
