C Introduction to Dance Appreciation

Catalog description

Term hours: 45 lecture and 27 laboratory. The course is an overview of dance history, beginning with classical era, folk and ethnic dance. This course will survey the development of ballet, modern, jazz and other dance forms, focusing largely on the 20th century. Students will read, write and watch videos to form an overview of the history of dance and the historical events that influenced the major choreographers of the 20th century. Dance concert admission may not exceed $30. (UC/CSU)
