(formerly: ART 112 C, Survey of Art History II). Term Hours: 54 lecture. This course provides an overview of art and architecture from the Renaissance to the contemporary period with a focus on art from Europe. The course will further consider global interactions involving this region. This course studies the development of architecture, sculpture, and painting of the Western world from the Renaissance through the Nineteenth century. Emphasis is placed on examining how art records and shapes history, how style communicates the ideas of the artist and their culture, and how symbols, techniques, materials, and subjects are used and transferred from one culture to another. Cost of museum visit will not exceed $25.00. Duplicate credit not granted for ART C1200H. Pass/No Pass/Letter Grade Option. (UC Credit Limitation/CSU AA GE,CalGETC, C-ID:ARTH 120).
