Catalog description

Discussion, demonstration, and practice of basic physical therapy patient care skills for all students who plan to apply to the PTA program. Introduces principles of patient care for physical therapist assisting students including professional communication with diverse populations, safe patient mobility skills and transfers, vital signs, standard precautions, hand hygiene and development of a comfort level with the physical contact required for a physical therapist assistant.
