Catalog description

Examination of the changing roles of women in America from colonial times to the present. Assessment of women's experiences in the gendered realms of family, politics and work roles, special emphasis on participation in social reforms leading to women's rights, suffrage and feminist movements. Key components of course include examination of the intersection of race, gender, sexuality, class, and region on gender perspectives, experiences, and conflicts in women's lives. Introduction to current research techniques used to uncover and interpret women's primary sources and introduction to historiography in the field of women's history.
