The molecular and cellular basis of life is explored through an introduction to cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, and evolution in both lecture and laboratory settings. Topics include scientific inquiry; chemical aspects of life; cell structure and function; energy and metabolism; cell division; molecular genetics; inheritance; population genetics; mechanisms of evolution; and evidence for evolution.
