Designed for non-science majors. Considers the use of insects as model organisms to direct learning of biological concepts. Discusses insect form, function, evolution, adaptations, behavior, and ecology. Explores current and historical social and economic dynamics through the study of insect roles, such as vectors of human diseases, food and fiber production, medical/genetic research, and ethical issues surrounding topics such as pesticide use and genetically modified organisms.
