Catalog description

In this course students will learn to watch performances through the lens of an Actor. How can two actors say the exact same words and have a vastly different effects on the story? Through learning basic acting techniques students will discover the wide array of possibilities available to actors, and learn to watch plays and films from an actor’s point of view.We will examine Film adaptations and recordings of live Theatre, comparing the work of actors such as Denzel Washington and James Earl Jones in August Wilson's Fences, Claire Danes and Leonardo Dicaprio in Romeo + Juliet, Jessica Lange and Elizabeth Taylor in Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in Shakespeare's Macbeth, along with many others.
