Catalog description

This course is a continuation of STAT 74100 and will teach students content beyond the standard statistical methods for supervised and unsupervised learning. The focus will be on neural networks and particularly on Deep Learning (DL). We will consider several powerful DL architectures including convolutional and recurrent neural networks and their applications in image classification and natural language processing tasks. Structured probabilistic models (graphical models) will also be introduced. The practical implementation of these methods is dependent on good command of Python and libraries such as Keras and Tensorflow. We will spend some time to build up these skills.
